A JTA release from April 22, 1927 concerning the battles between the Chassidim and the rebbes of Muncacz and Belz. M. A. Tennenblatt was the Vienna correspondent for the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

  1. They lit black candles and pronounced a "ches" on Shabbos morning? Sounds a bit strange , don't you think?

  2. It said "the next evening," i.e. after shabbos.

  3. In Europe, some people refrained from even mentioning the word cherem (some even use this term today)
