A Chief Rabbi's final instructions for his family
A few years ago I posted some excerpts from the Ethical Last Will and Testament of British Chief Rabbi Nathan Marcus Adler, and I also summarized parts of it (link).
Fortunately, I found that the complete text was printed in the January 9, 1891 issue of the Jewish Standard. Full of beautiful sentiments, it is well worth reading. Here it is (click to enlarge):

Nice find. I love the way he balances and explains his concerns with both ethical and ritual conduct. These days he would be personae non grata for insisting that ethical rules apply equally in dealing with Jews and non-Jews. But then of course a the chief rabbi continues to lose stature with hareidim (until such day as they totally own the institution) and get to appoint one of their own.
