A British Jew (and Bible) joke from 1823.

Ba dum ching.

This joke was printed in several places, but the one I got it from is from a periodical called The Spirit of the Public Journals.

  1. What am I missing about Emori and Chiti stereotypes? I only know Darchei Emori in the sense of irrational superstitions.

  2. Don't think too deeply. :-)

It has nothing to do with stereotypes. Its wordplay: the Jew who boxes is like a Hittite. The Jew who likes the ladies is like an Am[o]urite.

  3. That had me too because I was doing rishon rishon and trying to associate Pugilism with Amorite. I thougt Hittite was "hitting" on women :)

  5. Am I going crazy? I could swear I saw this post up at least 2 weeks ago, and yet I see it has a posting date from yesterday.
