An execution by guillotine described in 1818

The execution of a Jew by guillotine - I assume - is described here. Note that the Jews accompanying the man "carefully removed ... even the smallest traces of blood" - to bury with the body.

    This is from the newspaper "The New Times" - which had the delicious motto "Not Connected With Paper Called 'the Times'" on its masthead, by the way.

    According to Wikipedia, in 1818 Colmar was part of France (until 1871) and the capital of the Departement of Haut-Rhin.

    But guillotines were also in use in Germany:

    They didn't consider it murder but justice. Those were different times, hard to imagine today except for states like Iran or China.

    Oh, that murder.
