Here is an interesting image (that exists in many versions, it seems it was something of a popular picture) depicting a Jew from Muncacz and, of course, his garb. It's about 200 years old.
The fact that he has a hidden money bag is pointed out in the text that followed the picture. There was definitely some anti-Jewish sentiment in this depiction.

ReplyDeleteExactly. And there were many such lithographs from that era, showing Jews with money. And such images are popular today in Poland, for luck.
