Here's an ad about Torah V'Daas's acquisition of a building in 1919. Now there would be place where you can get Emes-Yiddisher-Chinuch in Williamsburg. Look at the competition on the lower left:

  5. My grandfather graduated from one of the first classes in Mesivta Torah Vodaath. When my great-grandfather moved from the lower east side to Williamsburg, his rov told him that they would become goyim, it's a midbor out there.
