As I can see at this time, Amnon Lipkin-Sha...Joel:<br /><br />As I can see at this time, Amnon Lipkin-Shahak is not a descendant of R. Yisrael Salanter. It may sound good to some, but the facts don't add up and there is no good documentation for it. Hebrew Wikipedia has him as a descendant of Chassidim actually. The family made aliyah app. 165 years ago. That info doesn't fit with a claim of descent from R. Yisrael.
